Is there any cure for an enlarged prostate?

Our dog has been to the vet, and his prostate was a little larger than normal. We’re still waiting on results from his urine test, but he has all the sypmtoms of BPH (blood/pus leaking from penis, strained urination and defecation). What are some typical treatments used to shrink the prostate? He’s already on Baytril for any infections he might have. He is an 8 year old, neutered male cocker spaniel.

Enlarged Prostate Alternative Medicine

Enlarged prostate is a painful condition that affects many men over the age of 40. The prostate is very small, slightly larger than a peanut. As the prostate becomes larger, more pressure is placed on the bladder, which could eventually end in urinary retention. There are numerous theories as to what causes the prostate to grow, mostly dealing with the testosterone chemical in a man’s body.

If you are diagnosed with an enlarged prostate, the doctor will go over several treatment options. If your condition is not severe, then prescription medications can be very effective. He or she will prescribe one type of medicine to start shrinking the prostate, and a second medicine to relax the muscles and take the pain away.

What are the possibilities for treating an enlarged prostate? Is it possible to remove the prostate with invasive surgery through the lower abdomen? Is it possible to insert a “stent” in the urethra, similar to the stent that is used for a constricted artery?
Thanks, Joe Conrad

As we mentioned in previous articles, We know that starting at age 40, the levels of by-product prolactin of testosterone of men increases, stimulating the production of the enzyme 5-alpha reductase that causes the conversion of testosterone to gihydro-testosterones DHT triggering prostate enlargement and other problems. Besides aging there are many other causes of enlarged prostate and some of them might result in prostate cancer. Beside foods nutrition and herbs, vitamins and minerals also play an important role in preventing and treating prostate enlarged as well as prostate cancer.

1. Zinc
Zinc is necessary for male sexual and prostate health. Zinc inhibits the uptake of testosterone into prolactin. The prostate gland contains a higher concentration of zinc than any other organ in the body, therefore zinc deficiency is the major cause of enlarged prostate as well as an early indication of prostate cancer.

We know that starting at age 40, the levels of the by-product prolactin of testosterone of men increases, stimulating the production of the enzyme 5-alpha reductase that causes the conversion of testosterone to gihydro-testosterones DHT thus triggering prostate enlargement and other problems. Therefore in order to prevent the symptoms of enlarged prostate and prostate cancer are to naturally impend the conversion of testosterone to DHT. We have also discussed other causes of enlarged prostate and prostate cancer. In this article we will focus in how to prevent and treat enlarged prostate and prostate cancer with natural foods.

1. Tomato
Tomatoes contain a high amount of lycopene that can help to protect the prostate and keep it healthy, but raw tomato is hard to digest. Be sure to take tomato with dark green leafy vegetables for helping the absorption of lycopene.
